You’ve got to feel sorry for Chris Patten, sorry, Lord “jobs for the boys” Patten. Just hours after saying there would be no separate inquiry into the Stuart Hall scandal, guess what, there’s going to be an inquiry into the Stuart Hall scandal.
Ouch, nice to see you’ve got your finger on the pulse Lord Patten.
We’ve sort of been here before haven’t we. Patten orchestrated the Tory win in 1992, but lost his own seat, slightly embarrassing if I remember correctly. He then when off to see the safe handover of Hong Kong to China, and eventually ended up with the nice little earner as Chairman of the BBC Trust, after a short spell, well five years to be exact, in Europe.
Wasn’t it Lord Patten who decided to give Entwistle a massive £450,000 pay off to go quietly? God these ex politicians certainly know how to spend public money.
After his embarrassing performance regarding the Stuart Hall affair, surely it’s time to hand the BBC trust over to someone who knows what they are doing? Or better still, scrap the BBC altogether.
